The 21st January was our delayed Christmas Dinner at The Gate Inn and was attended by 28 members who enjoyed an evening of good food, wine and company.
On 12th January, the anniversary of the foundation of what is now the Tansley Ladies Group, 32 ladies gathered for a celebration lunch at the venue where it all began. A buffet lunch was prepared by present members and was enjoyed by all. We had the challenge of identifying members from photos taken of them in their youth. One of our members made a magnificent celebration cake and our longest serving member, Sheila Newton, made the first cut and was presented with a bouquet of flowers. Marjorie Ramwell, another long serving member, was also presented with a bouquet. Our current chairman, Diana Dakin, gave a toast to members past, present and future before we all made our way home after a most enjoyable afternoon.
We will be having a “Soup, bread, cheese & a glass of wine” lunch on Thursday 28th February 12-3.00 pm at Diana Dakin’s, 49 Riber View Close, Tansley. There will also be a bottle raffle. Everyone welcome.
Lunch is £5 per person – please let Diana know if you would like to come to help us with numbers for catering. Phone 01629 55530.
We met with family and friends at The Gate on 10th December for a convivial evening of carols and the odd drink.
The raffle was well supported and we raised £300 for our charities.
We are having a Diamond Year Celebration buffet lunch on Saturday 12th January 12.00-2.30. All current and past members are welcome. If you would like to attend please contact Di on 01629 55530 by 21st December .
In addition to our meeting of the 3rd December we will be meeting on 10th December 7.00pm for carol singing at The Gate. Families, friends and anyone else welcome.
The speaker for our well attended open meeting on the 19th November was Caroline Povey. She spoke about her travels and experiences as a member of the Olympic Great Britain and England trap (shooting) teams. She brought along momentoes of her travels including her Bronze Commonwealth Medal which she won in Glasgow.
We raised a further £320 for our charities.
