A stalwart group of walkers met at 6.30 pm on the 18th June at Tansley Village Hall. Additional walkers were collected at Thatchers Lane and around a dozen ladies, 3 spouses and 2 dogs set off for a lovely evening stroll above Tansley. The weather was warm and although there were a few spots of rain everyone set out at a pace to cross stiles, fields, disused quarries now lush with trees and roads. The gibbet stone at Dethick was reached and its grisly purpose discussed.
The dogs added a great deal of fun and laughter to the walk as they bounded across or, on one occasion, head butted the stiles.
The walkers met up with other Ladies Group members at the Gate Inn at around 8pm where welcome refreshments were served and everyone settled in for a very convivial evening.
